There are also semi-sprung parts (also called partly sprung or hybrid weight). These parts are usually attached to the wheel on one end and to a sprung component on the other. The springs themselves, for example, connect the wheel to the body. The half shaft going from the transmission to a wheel is another semi-sprung part. The list also includes shock absorbers and struts, control arms and other suspension parts, half shafts and other drive shafts, and some steering components.
Sprung weight is shielded from the shocks and vibrations that the wheels experience as they travel over every bump and pothole. This makes for a more comfortable ride and protects the sprung components from destructive and life-shortening shocks and vibrations. Conversely, unsprung weight must be designed to be tough enough to survive the constant shocks and vibrations, which can be difficult for complex parts such as hub motors and wireless pressure sensors.
The difference between rotating mass and non-rotating mass is somewhat related, especially in terms of performance. Physics dictates that it is more difficult to accelerate rotating mass than non-rotating mass. This means those lighter tires and wheels also take less force to accelerate them forward.

Not only do we receive a ton of baby squirrels during this time of year, but there tends to be an abundance of all types of babies during the spring! Please be aware that these helpless little guys can be hiding anywhere and everywhere.
Squirrels, ducklings, baby geese, opossums, and feral kittens are all frequent fliers at hospitals & rescues in the spring. These animals sometimes wander off and get lost on their own, which tends to happen as they get bigger and more brave!
Spring is here and spring is near in Yellowstone! Because of varying elevations and temperatures in the park, the spring season can start anywhere from mid-March all the way through June. Every year, without fail, there are particular signs that let us know spring is indeed in the air. If you happen to see or hear of any of the indicators listed below, you know that winter has begun to give way to new life.
The first sightings of grizzly bears emerging from hibernation usually begin around mid-March and continue throughout the spring for grizzlies and black bears alike. With the excitement of seeing this top predator back in the park also comes the responsibility to keep yourselves and bears safe. Here are a number of ways that you can be bear aware in Yellowstone National Park.
Shopping for a new mattress can be a confusing process. With hundreds of beds to choose from across dozens of categories, it can start to feel overwhelming. Fortunately, you can narrow down your search easily by focusing on one big question: Do you want a foam or an innerspring mattress?
If you're trying to pick between a foam and spring mattress, you'll need to consider factors like sleep position, body weight, budget, and personal sleep preferences. Our quiz below will help you figure out if a foam or spring bed is the right fit for you.
Spring mattresses, also called innerspring mattresses, are beds that utilize dozens to hundreds of metal springs to provide an underlying support layer. They also have softer plush material layers to increase comfort. Some find that spring mattresses feel more supportive than foam, at least initially. This is particularly true for heavier people, who may benefit more from the coiled spring support systems than a foam base.
Several factors can influence how a spring bed feels. Coil count is an important factor; most quality beds will have around 400 coils or more in a queen size mattress. However, keep in mind that a higher coil count does not necessarily equal a higher quality bed, as there are many factors at play.
Sleepers who are heavy or sleep on their stomachs should opt for either innerspring, hybrid, or very firm foam beds, in order to get enough support. Softer foam models will likely sink too much to feel comfortable for these sleepers.
In children with Hirschsprung's disease, nerves fail to form in all or part of the large intestine (colon). Waste from digestion cannot pass through the part of the colon lacking nerve tissue. The normal colon swells with blocked stool.
Hirschsprung's (HIRSH-sproongz) disease is a condition that affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems with passing stool. The condition is present at birth (congenital) as a result of missing nerve cells in the muscles of the baby's colon. Without these nerve cells stimulating gut muscles to help move contents through the colon, the contents can back up and cause blockages in the bowel.
A newborn who has Hirschsprung's disease usually can't have a bowel movement in the days after birth. In mild cases, the condition might not be detected until later in childhood. Uncommonly, Hirschsprung's disease is first diagnosed in adults.
Hirschsprung's disease occurs when nerve cells in the colon don't form completely. Nerves in the colon control the muscle contractions that move food through the bowels. Without the contractions, stool stays in the large intestine.
